How to “shop” around for a compatible girl?
I am 20 years old.. I was in a very serious relationship for 2.5 years and was also engaged. I have worked at least 40 hours a week since I was 15, never was too sociable in high school because I enjoyed working. I have never really dated, just when I entered the relationship to which I became engaged. Most people who meet me believe I am about 25 years old. I own a successful landscaping firm, have just a few friends. I am slowly working on my degree around work taking online classes so I don’t get to meet people as most people my age do at college. So how do I shop around for someone??? Any suggestions? I tried e-harmony but wasn’t a big fan
I am a male looking for a relationship with a girl, but trying to find ways to meet people, make new friends etc.
Try http://www.okcupid.com. I don’t know the specifics on e-Harmony but okcupid is at least free.

How close to other plants can salt be used to kill weeds?
I have a large desert landscaped front yard in Phoenix. It consists of mostly rock with bougainvillea, aloe and small grass patches in secluded locations. The rocky areas (85% of the yard) looks like a weed jungle, and it has been difficult for me to keep under control. I’ve heard salt works well to kill and prevent weeds (and everything else), but I was wondering how close to the other plants can I use salt to kill the weeds?
ARGH!! There’s no way to really answer that other than to say plant roots are very far reaching. Don’t believe the myth the roots in trees stop at the outer branch tip. Not hardly.
There’s a very good chance your plants are already rooted into this rocky area………..or worse, any salt application will run into the planted area. It is not a good way to control weeds. Plus sodium really messes up soil structure and toxic to soil microflora and fauna.
Also avoid the killz-all type weedkiller (except Roundup) Many attack the soil like salt and are also prone to move around……thru yours and your neighbor’s landscape.
Roundup, when properly applied will work. For that large an area I would purchase the concentrate and mix my own, not purchase the premixed stuff. Could be it is time to have the rock area stripped off and rerocked. Happens. Each time the wind blows, all that dust falls on your rocks this making a nice new soil bed for weeds.

Mediterranean Winter: The Pleasures of History and Landscape in Tunisia, Sicily, Dalmatia, and Greece $12.63 In Mediterranean Winter, Robert D. Kaplan, the bestselling author of Balkan Ghosts and Eastward to Tartary, relives an austere, haunting journey he took as a youth through the off-season Mediterranean. The awnings are rolled up and the other tourists are gone, so the damp, cold weather takes him back to the 1950s and earlier—a golden, intensely personal age of tourism. Decades ago, Kaplan voyage… |

What would be my perfect city to live in?
I have a huge essay to write for my creative writing class about my ‘perfect’ place to live. The only problem is, I’m not sure which place to pick.
My ideal city to live in would be:
- somewhere where the city life is separate from countryside. (I’ve lived in New York all my life, and I’m sick of it.)
- somewhere warm year-round!! where it rains only during the summer ![]()
- somewhere surrounded with history & beautiful buildings and landscapes.
- somewhere serene & peaceful.
- somewhere that is not buzzing with tourists.
- somewhere with great food! this is a must.
And yes, it has to be a real city ![]()
Some places I’ve considered are Florence (Italy), Tybee Island (Georgia), New Orleans (Louisiana), Santorini (Greece), Cairns (Australia), Perugia (Italy), and Salerno (Italy).
Singapore, Singapore. But it rains during November/December, however it’s the cleanest city in the world, very beautiful, huge variety of food and so on.

Looking for a half day Napa Valley tour from San Francisco?
I’m looking for a tour of Napa Valley that picks up and drops off in San Francisco (at our hotel?). We’re not wine connoisseurs, so we don’t need to visit all the great wineries in the area. 1/2 vineyards + lunch or something like that would work for us. Maybe one of the tours that crosses the Golden Gate Bridge and/or includes the ferry ride back to San Francisco? I’m looking to spend 1/2 to 1 day for this. How much should I be budgeting for? Any suggestions?
Napa and Sonoma are about 90 minutes from San Francisco, so half day tours are much less common than full day tours.
I did a fair amount of research on this, and the disappointing aspect is that most of the operators go to the same wineries. And those are not that great. Your best option is to rent a car and do it yourself, but that would require someone to be a designated driver.
However to answer your question, here’s the breakdown. Note most of them leave Fisherman’s Wharf at 9am, lunch is on your tab, and return around 6pm:
Super Sightseeing Tours – $65, visits Sutter Home (SH), Madonna Estate (ME) and Viansa (V)
Tower Tours – $63, visits ME, Cline Cellars (CC) and V
Sightseeing World – $65 plus tasting fees, visits SH, Jacuzzi (J) and V
Wine Country Tour Shuttle – $95 includes a picnic but you pay tasting fees, visits Domaine Chandon (DC), V Sattui (VS), Rutherford Ranch and Andretti (A). This has the ferry back to the city.
Gray Line – $68, visits ME, J and V
GuideYou.com – $61, visits ME, CC and V
Great Pacific Tour – $95, visits DC, V and CC
Incredible Adventures – $105, visits Benzinger, Imagery and a 3rd determined by the driver on the day
Comprehensive – $95 with a $10 lunch voucher, but you pay for tastings, visits DC, VS, A and Black Stallion
