planting advice/reference for low water/desert area?
getting a house in la and would like the landscaping to be appropriate for the area- low water requirements. Does anyone know of a good reference book or website to use as a guide as I move in and start planning and planting?
There are a lot of great books on the subject, but probably the easiest place to start is with a Sunset guide. I find the Western Garden Guide (http://www.oxmoorhouse.com/category/brands+/sunset/gardening+.do) indispensable. Figure out your zone here http://www.sunset.com/garden/climate-zones/sunset-climate-zones-california-nevada-00400000036331/ then you can tell what plants will thrive at your new home. Good luck.
