it seems to be wilting and pieces are breaking off.

If you have over watered, rot may have set into the roots of the current plant. Start a new pot and use the pieces that have fallen off (check they are free from decay, or cut their bottoms off). Stick them into the new potting mix and start a new pot of plants. Then if the original plant dies, you will hopefully have the new plants. Cacti and succulents are easily rooted from pieces. This plant is incredibly greasy and dusty. I’d like to be as noninvasive to start the care as I have no idea how many years this plant has been in its container. I do know it hasn’t flowered for about 7 years, but that could happen because of the climate here. Any help appreciated. Thanks
Thanks GP – currently night time temps are around 34 or so, but even when it’s been warmer, nothing … well according to this old lady. I did have one where I used to live and I would flower for about 5 months of the year. Maybe this plant is just old and I should take some cuttings and share ???

I own a Christmas cacti too. I run the shower on it to clean it. It might not flower for four reasons. It might need to be re potted with fresh dirt. It might need some fertilizer. It might need a better window in which to get enough sun to encourage flowering. It might not be getting enough water.

It is dropping and drying up.

You might have it in too warm a place. They like cool, low light places. I’d put it in the garage by a window for awhile and see if it comes back. Good luck.
