Great Arizona RV Camping Destinations

It’s easy to think of Arizona as saguaro cactus and sand. The truth is there are a wide variety of RV camping destinations in Arizona just waiting for your next trip. The Grand Canyon is perhaps the best known Arizona outdoor destination, but there are plenty of other breathtaking landscapes to discover. Let’s explore two more fascinating categories of Arizona RV camping destinations.

Arizona Scenic Drives

It’s almost easier to say “what’s not scenic in Arizona?” We’ve picked just a few of the amazing vistas to visit by RV in the Grand Canyon State.

  • Red Rock Scenic Road: If you travel to Sedona, don’t miss this fifteen miles of spectacular canyon scenery. Along State Route 179 from Phoenix to Sedona, the Red Rock Scenic Road takes travelers past towering red rock spires and fantastic hiking trails. While you’re in the area, also take the time to drive the Dry Creek and Mingus Mountain Scenic Roads. RV campgrounds in beautiful mountain settings abound in the area around Sedona, so why not plan to linger in north central Arizona?
  • Kaibab Plateau/North Rim Parkway: Travel State Route 67 from Jacob Lake to the North Rim Area of the Grand Canyon and you will have a vacation’s worth of photo opportunities! Make your way through gloriously scenic Kaibab National Forest to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. There you’ll find once-in-a-lifetime views of the Canyon from the higher elevations of the North Rim. Camp at Jacob Lake, in the National Forest itself or at one of the RV camping venues near the North Rim.
  • White River Scenic Road: Delve into Native American culture on the enormous White River Apache Reservation in southern Arizona. The White River Scenic Road rolls through awe-inspiring meadows and parallels the river all the way to historic Fort Apache and the Kinishiba Ruins. Also plan to spend time at the Williams Creek National Fish Hatchery and Hon-Dah, the Apache tribal casino resort at the beginning of the trail.

Arizona Family RV Camping Destinations

Travelling with the kids? You’re going to find plenty to keep them occupied in Arizona. Not only will they be exposed to fascinating Old West and Native American history, they can also play outdoors to their hearts’ content.

Lake Mead National Recreational Area offers plenty of fishing, hiking, RV camping and wildlife photography opportunities. Older kids will love hiking the rugged trails, while the little ones will want to take turns naming all the animals you spy. RV campsites are abundant in this National Park site, but be sure to make your reservations early.

For a break from the road as you pass through Phoenix, CrackerJac Family Fun and Sports Park features acres of exciting activities. Visit the Bungee Dome or the multi-level, award-winning mini golf park while you’re there. The kids are going to love this place!

If your RV camping trip takes you through Tucson, don’t miss the Arizona- Sonora Desert Museum, a zoo full of desert wildlife to fascinate your family. Wild West buffs in your group will also want to stop at Old Tucson Studios, a theme park filled with Wild West entertainment where movies are still being filmed.

One more suggestion for Arizona family RV camping—Homolovi Ruins State Park in northeastern Arizona gives a glimpse into fifteenth century Anasazi tribal life. The ruins of this ancient Native American culture are spread throughout the state park along the Little Colorado River. Camp at one of the Park’s convenient RV campsites and then take a trip back in time to learn more about the ancestors of today’s Hopi tribes.

Arizona RV camping destinations offer something for everyone in your RV. Bring the family or explore the Grand Canyon State with friends. Either way, your RV camping experience in Arizona will be absolutely memorable.

am i lightweight drinker?male?

ok first off i know its unhealthy
its dumb
it a waste of timedrin
im ruining my life
or some other stuff you have to say about it blah blah blah no lectures plzz
im 16 male 127 lbs
if i can drink a 40 oz of bud and be “tipsy”
like i am trippin a little bit(not hallucinating actually tripping)
but i can still do my ABCs walk in a straight line and still have pretty good control of my movements

would i be a lightweight?
i downed it in about an hour
back to the question at hand am i a lightweight

NOPE
lightweights AWESOME
i wanted to be a lightweight
spend less money on beer
instead of needing 2-3 40 oz to get drunk
i only need 1 1/2 to get drunken

You weigh 127 lbs, of course you’re a lightweight. A 40 oz. bottle of beer is equivalent to 3 1/4ths standard size bottles of beer. Consume that much beer in less than an hour and pretty much anyone would be “tipsy”.

Nacapuli – Some new twists to an old favorite

Hike beyond the Ojo
Nacapuli, the amazing palm canyon north of San Carlos, is one of the most popular hiking destinations in this area.

I had hiked as far as the final water hole (ojo) at least a dozen times with anyone who visited me in tow. But I only recently continued up the canyon. The path is sometimes hard to find, but if you keep heading up the ravine, you will reach the end of the path after about one hour. The view is worth it a sweeping vista up and down the adjacent valley, all the way to the water.

Nacapuli Canyon starts out as an easy hike that becomes moderate, requiring some scrambling over boulders, up loose rock hills and through a tunnel in the rocks. And after the ojo, there are challenging sections with some haul-it-over-rocks required.

The path takes you through a narrow canyon surrounded by towering rock walls and lush green palm trees. The walls of the canyon are covered in various cacti, such as the ocotillo, cholla, and barrel. Beyond the ojo, the rocks are even more spectacular, going from a pink sand color to deep rust. Green palms stand against a red cliff background on a blinding blue sky canvas.

More than just a great hike, Nacapuli offers bird-watching and an opportunity to explore native rocks, flora and fauna. Fresh water springs provide the canyon with a humid tropical micro-climate that makes for a refreshing break from the dry hot desert.

Bike there and back
Driving the dirt road to the canyon, you may not notice that there is an incline the whole way there something that becomes painfully obvious when tackling the route by bike. The upside to biking there is that it’s all downhill home.

While coasting home, it’s tempting to look at the view of the water in the distance. Several bone-jarring drops into potholes or over rocks in the road have reminded me to also keep an eye on where I’m going.

There’s also plenty of wild life to distract you. I usually spot a number of interesting birds, including osprey and hawk. They are often perched on the tops of cacti, or soaring above the cliffs. Jackrabbit and roadrunner also frequent this area.

If you haven’t yet explored Nacapuli, just do it. You won’t be disappointed, no matter how short your hike in. And if you think you’ve already seen it, try it with a twist.
