Can I become a Phoenix Police Officer (cop) if I’ve done drugs…?
I’m aspiring to become a Police Officer in the state of Arizona. I have a clean criminal record, clean driving record with the exception of a single speeding ticket, and am currently enrolled in college to receive my Associate Degree in Applied Science for Criminal Justice. I am also considering pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
One possible setback that I am thinking about is my past drug use. I am currently 21 years old. During high school, I smoked marijuana maybe 20-30 times throughout a 2 year period. I also tried cocaine about 5 times and tried smoking heroin once during my senior year. I am not proud of what I did when I look back, and currently don’t even so much as drink. I am curious though if this will present a problem. When applying I plan on being straight forward and honest about my past mistakes and don’t intend on hiding anything.
I am sure 90% of the applicants are lying about past drug use! Why are you carrying your past into your future? move on and forward!
